Friday, 12th March 2004 (5802 views) A new Victorian jewellery exhibition in the Indian town of Calcutta is underlining the lasting appeal of gold jewellery.<BR/><BR/>The show at the Jewel Company store at HHI showcases a number of finely detailed gold items, proving popular with visitors.<BR/><BR/>A collection of pendant sets and bracelets studded with gold and silver have been touched up using an oxidised finish to give them an antique feel.<BR/><BR/>I've been travelling abroad a lot and have culled many of these ideas from a variety of jewellery exhibitions across Europe and America, Nikunj Lodha, a young designer and owner of the store, told The Telegraph.<BR/><BR/>The gold jewellery follows an ornate path, providing a high level of detail and finesse to reflect Victorian tastes.<BR/><BR/>Other pieces boast motifs from the Mughal era as well, combining different eras and cultures in the jewellery.<BR/><BR/>The exhibition, which runs until March 15th, typically uses pieces with a 50 per cent gold and 50 per cent silver mix, which are matched with an array of different precious stones.
