Fashion experts say that one of the lasting legacies of the popular Sex and the City shows is the willingness among women to don glamourous attire, complete with accessorised jewellery.

With the last ever episode of Sex and the City having been filmed, fashion experts have been queuing up to recognise the golden finish the girls gave their outfits.

The lead character, Carrie, was known for her gold nameplate necklace that sparked a rash of copycat purchases up and down the high street.

Indeed, the trendsetting qualities that the show prides itself on, have been charted by another international style icon, Vogue magazine.

Vogue magazine fashion expert Kim Stringer tells The Scotsman that Sex and the City has made women more willing to have fun with their outfits and follow a glamourous lead right down to the gold necklaces and earrings.

"It has made fashion much more accessible to women in the street and as a result the average woman is now more aware of designer fashions thanks to the programme."

"Also, they have shown how to accessorise fantastically and this has become big. What's important is that the programme has injected fun back into fashion and shown women not to slavishly follow the trends," she added.
