Monday, 29th March 2004 (6429 views) Increasing numbers of Chinese tourists are boosting jewellery sales in Hong Kong as attitudes and opinions of mainlanders have changed.<BR/><BR/>Figures suggest that on average almost $900 are spent by Chinese visitors on each visit and key products purchased include gold and jewellery.<BR/><BR/>The increases are thought to be due to a growing sophistication in Chinese shoppers and new credit card and Hong Kong travel regulations.<BR/><BR/>Marketing director for King Fook jewellery shops in Hong Kong, Victoria Lai explained to The Globe and Mail: "They come here and ask for products by name."<BR/><BR/>Among the products purchased by mainland shoppers are expensive watches priced at $15,000.
