US jewellery designer to add touch of gold to collection

An American jewellery designer has been praised by the industry for her designs and use of materials.<BR/><BR/>Elizabeth Showers, known internationally for her designs began in the industry eight years ago and now makes $1 million a year.<BR/><BR/>With items including necklaces, bracelets and earrings sold in top department stores, the designer has announced she is to launch an 18 carat gold collection next year.<BR/><BR/>Cindy Edelstein, founder and president of Jeweler's Resource Bureau, an educational resource for jewellery designers told the Sun Herald: "She's not just a bead line. She has some nice metal work in between. It seems her colours are relating well to fashion."<BR/><BR/>Among her gold items currently on offer are gold leaf chandelier style necklaces and earrings and pearl bracelets with a 14-carat gold slide closure. At present jewellery prices range from $75 to $850.<BR/><BR/>Carol Quist, who has displayed Ms Showers' jewellery in her showroom at Dallas' International Apparel Mart added: "She uses wonderful materials. The quality is excellent."<BR/><BR/>Ms Showers hopes to open a retail store within the next four or five years and started off working as a waitress to fund her jewellery design ambition.
