Monday, 26th April 2004 (6059 views) Gold has been displayed to launch the opening of a new exhibition centre in Bahrain.<BR/><BR/>The new convention centre at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) is hoped to boost the reputation of the country as an international hub for exhibitions and conferences.<BR/><BR/>The Wonders of Gold showcase was opened by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and was followed by a jewellery fashion show. He described the exhibition as a landmark event.<BR/><BR/>Commerce Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh told Gulf Daily News: "This is a proud moment for all of us, and the new multi-purpose centre will enhance Bahrain's capacity to host international conventions and exhibitions."<BR/><BR/>The new centre has created an exhibition site of 16,000sq m and new halls can take up to 1,400 people.
