Tuesday, 27th April 2004 (4559 views) Gold production has grown in Russia this year, according to recent figures for the first quarter of 2004.<BR/><BR/>Results show that production of the precious metal increased by 13.6 per cent year-on-year to 25.012 tonnes, reports Interfax.<BR/><BR/>According to the Gold Producers' Union byproduct and incidental production grew by 50 per cent to 3.013 tonnes.<BR/><BR/>The biggest growth was seen in recoveries from secondary production or scrap, with a 250 per cent rise to 3.099 tonnes.<BR/><BR/>In terms of regions, Krasnoyarsk was the best producer, mining 6.212 tonnes of gold.
