Thursday, 13th May 2004 (4455 views) Around 300 pieces of Mayan jewellery have been returned to Honduras by US authorities this week.<BR/><BR/>Among the ancient collection which dates back to about 500 AD are musical instruments, jewellery, containers and animal figures, according to Newsday.<BR/><BR/>The jewellery was first obtained in 1998 and an investigation is to be held into the export details of the collection.<BR/><BR/>Items are part of a showcase of around 9,000 Mayan objects at the Institute of Anthropology and History in the capital, Tegucigalpa.<BR/><BR/>Around 25 per cent of the institute's collection comes from artefacts seized from international dealers.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2617414"/>
