A new campaign has been launched by the Gold and Jewellery Group of Dubai to offer consumers the chance to win a host of gold prizes.<BR/><BR/>The group, which includes nearly 400 retailers, will run The Jewellery Destination of the World campaign for Dubai Summer Surprises from June 17 to August 27, in conjunction with the World Gold Council.<BR/><BR/>All of the group's retailers are taking part in the scheme and any jewellery purchase for Dh250 from a store will give customers the chance to win.<BR/><BR/>Group Chairman Tawhid Abdullah told Gulf-News: "This is our biggest summer promotion and offers a true gold and jewellery surprise."<BR/><BR/>The campaign includes a weekly draw to win a kilogram of gold, thousands of instant scratch-n-win prizes for six kilos of gold and the chance to win half of the purchase price of jewellery with a maximum limit of Dh1,250.<BR/><BR/>"This promotion comes on the back of a booming year for the industry in Dubai that saw retail gold sales soar over 41 per cent in the first quarter of 2004 compared with last year," Moaz Barakat, WGC managing director for Mid-east, Turkey and Pakistan commented.<BR/><BR/>It is thought sales could rise to as much as Dh 20 million over the last year since 90 per cent of visitors to Dubai have been buying jewellery and the campaign is set to increase sales by seven per cent.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2831106"/>
