Gold is increasingly being used by dentists to help make new crowns or bridges.<BR/><BR/>One example is the Thornhill dental lab in America, set up by Alan David in 1989, the centre uses computer assisted technology as well as a mix of metals, such as gold, to help in plaster-like compounds for fittings.<BR/><BR/>Mr David explained to The Star: "Everything's moving towards aesthetics with extreme makeovers and Hollywood smiles."<BR/><BR/>Due to the fact crowns and bridges have to fit precisely new methods use a mix of metals to fill in the space that is missing from your mouth when a mould is taken, helping to create the crown or bridge.<BR/><BR/>According to Mr David the combination of metals needs to be carefully worked out to ensure it works well with the ceramic sections and forms properly.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2831487"/>
