Scotland unveils new Etruscan jewellery collection

Wednesday, 23rd June 2004 (3419 views)

A new collection of Etruscan jewellery is to go on show at the Royal Museum of Scotland from July.

The museum has now released images of the gold jewellery, which forms part of its exhibition that includes nearly 500 objects never seen in the UK before, according to the Scotsman.

The Etruscans were based in central Italy and date back to ninth century BC.

Most of the knowledge on the civilisation comes from the archaeological excavation of cemeteries that find pieces such as those soon to be displayed.

'Treasures from Tuscany: the Etruscan Legacy' will run from July 16 to October 31.
