Originally Marilyn Monroe's bracelet had 70 rhinestones, but each one has been used to form a new piece of jewellery, each worth £5,200. Garry Whitworth, GEM Appeal committee member, told the Rochdale Observer: "With the necklace and other items we have up for auction we hope to raise a record amount." The necklace bids will be controlled by Paul Crone from Granada Reports who is featuring as a guest auctioneer.
