Police officers in Leamington have discovered a number of gold jewellery items, following a tip-off that led them to secluded woodland, according to ic Coventry.

The buried treasure was hidden two feet down in carrier bags and included two distinctive small gold charms encrusted with valuable gemstones, as well as a large number of jewellery boxes. Other items discovered included a Parkhouse and Wyatt St Christopher necklace.

Although the exact value of the recovered property is not yet known, it is expected to be high.

The Warwickshire police have issued a statement saying that it is likely that the haul could have been stolen from various houses in the area during May and June. They have urged anyone who has recently had jewellery burgled to contact them.

Earlier in the month, jewellery, which included a number of gold chains, was discovered by a woman at the bottom of her garden in the Newbold area of Rugby. The items have since been returned to their rightful owner.
