Couer reveals increased mining prospects at Kensington

The Couer d'Alene Mines Corp has revealed that its property in Kensington could contain more gold than was previously thought.<BR/><BR/>Reportedly if suspicions are correct the mine's proposed life could be extended by 50 per cent and see the mine in production for 15 years, according to Juneau Empire Online.<BR/><BR/>At present, reserves at Kensington stand at 4.2 million tonnes and Couer hopes to begin production in 2006.<BR/><BR/>Based in Idaho, the company's Kensington mine plan is based on 1 million ounces of probable or proven gold reserves.<BR/><BR/>Draft permits for the project have already been issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state of Alaska, and are out for public comment now.<BR/> <BR/>If work goes ahead, the mine is expected to employ 300 workers during construction and 200 during operation.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2933162"/>
