Tuesday, 17th August 2004 (8342 views) Jewellery sales are set to experience growth this month after US retail figures show that US consumers are spending again.<BR/><BR/>New figures for July retail sales have shown an increase of 7.2 per cent compared to last year and a 0.8 per cent increase over June.<BR/><BR/>Chief economist for the National Retail Federation (NRF), Rosalind Wells, told IDEX: "The strength of July sales demonstrates that June's weakness was simply a blip on the radar. <BR/><BR/>"July's sales indicate that retailers are clearly poised to benefit from healthy back-to-school sales."<BR/><BR/>The figures are likely to encourage the jewellery industry, as the luxury goods sector relies on a positive consumer retail market.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3240712"/>
