Wednesday, 25th August 2004 (6647 views) The latest craze in the US is to spoil your pet rotten and take them out in style with pet charms.<BR/><BR/>With new figures showing that Americans spent over $32.4 billion on their pets last year, a popular item of choice is a charm necklace for dogs.<BR/><BR/>Mary Mendola, customer service supervisor at Rembrandt, a US jewellery store, commented: "Pet charms have always been popular."<BR/><BR/>Talking about her dog, which has a personalised charm necklace, proprietor of Jewells jewellery store, Katharine Wells added: "Pennyweight loves her necklace and so do my customers. <BR/><BR/>"I've sold one other dog necklace, a few bracelets and lots of single charms to attach to dog collars."<BR/><BR/>Ms Wells is now planning on promoting the pet pieces as part of an upcoming charity event, with items available in different carat gold and sterling silver.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3279065"/>
