Wednesday, 15th September 2004 (4326 views) A new survey has revealed that Australia's gold industry plans to spend over $8.1 billion in operational, capital and exploration expenditure in 2004/5.<BR/><BR/>The spending is up five per cent on last year, according to the Australian Gold Council and Deloitte, who completed the study.<BR/><BR/>However figures showed exploration was the area that had the least funding assigned to it, with just 3.3 per cent of the total predicted investment for this financial year, according to The Age.<BR/><BR/>Additional results showed over 22,000 people will be hired under new plans by gold companies, working either directly or indirectly as contractors.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3434599"/>
