Gold is continuing to impress in India, as consumers claim they still prefer it for jewellery gifts and marriages.<BR/><BR/>The precious metal has a special significance in celebrations and customers are still opting for the latest designs in mangalasutras, earrings, bangles and rings, according to Web India.<BR/><BR/>In addition, consumers are keen to purchase traditional gold ornaments and items such as armlets and waistbands.<BR/><BR/>Preferences are changing though, with customers now looking for jewellery that they can carry around and wear because of its light weight.<BR/><BR/>A current demand jewellers now have to consider too is designs and making them suitable to wear with both Indian and western outfits, since a lot of Indian women do not wear traditional clothes all the time.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3739553"/>
