Geologists have claimed that a mine in north west Tasmania could hold the entrance to a large vein of gold.<BR/><BR/>The mine has been closed for over 100 years and is now a historic site after being mined in the 1850s.<BR/><BR/>One of two geologists who have applied for an exploration licence for the area, Alistair Reed, told ABC News: "We're already starting to see from our grab samples that we're getting a gold kick.<BR/><BR/>"The next step now is to go in and collect a few more samples but really we're getting close to the point where it's time to start putting a drill hole in to test what this feature is at depth."<BR/><BR/>The Campbell's Reward gold mine is situated near the township of Lorinna.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7130624"/>
