Thursday, 25th November 2004 (4263 views) The mining community in South Africa has invited Indian investment in the country's mining sector, according to deepikaglobal.<BR/><BR/>Speaking at the 'International Conference on Mining Technology', the director general of the Department of Mineral and Energy, Republic of South Africa, Mr S Nogxima, called for joint ventures between India and South Africa.<BR/><BR/>The conference formed part of the Indian Mining Summit 2004 and also recommended that knowledge sharing would take place and projects for joint operation should be looked into.<BR/><BR/>Mr Nogxima explained that the country is presenting exporting minerals to 97 countries and celebrating its ten years of democracy, had seen a substantial growth in the mining sector.<BR/><BR/>The country had just 87 mines in 1994, but now this amount has now increased considerably and includes 66 gold mines.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7158241"/>
