Tuesday, 30th November 2004 (4310 views) A gold and diamond cricket ball has been bought to Australia to mark the beginning of the cricket season.<BR/><BR/>The item which is a perfectly made-to-scale is also being used to celebrate the opening of a new Fior Drissage jewellery store in Melbourne.<BR/><BR/>It is hoped the piece will feature in the Guinness Book of Records, since it is the only one of its kind in the world.<BR/><BR/>The sporting item is made from 18 carat gold stitch and 2704 diamonds and was made in Sri Lanka.<BR/><BR/>According to rediff, the ball weighs 53.83 carats and has a pure 'gold' seam of 125 grams.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7198688"/>
