Technology is helping to boost business in Northern Virginia and as is increasingly the case, gold is also playing a part in the sector.

At the Northern Virginia Technology Council's sixth annual TechTalk programme a host of the latest technology has been displayed.

Among the items on show at the exhibition is a special gold lined helmet.

The headwear features in the 'Training and Mobilizing Workshop' and is an example of new technology and equipment, which can be used in emergencies and disasters.

According to Times Community, the item works by the precious metal reflecting heat and light and so it could be useful in a fire.

Gold is increasingly being used in a number of technology related products, including items involving nanotechnology and musical or telecom related items such as MP3 players and mobile phones.
