Charles & Colvard, the exclusive manufacturer of moissanite, has held two special trunk show sales at New York in time for Christmas shopping.

Held in the Lord & Taylor stores, designs by K&G creations saw jewellery made from 14 carat gold and moissanite, according to National Jeweler.

According to the company, gold jewellery is set off with the gems, which have "two and a half times the fire" and more brilliance and luster than "the finest diamonds".

Events were held at both the Lord & Taylor stores on Fifth Avenue in New York and in Long Island's Garden City.

Consumers were offered 20 per cent discounts on the jewellery and individual appointments to view the items were also offered.
