Women increasingly buying their own ringsTuesday, 21st December 2004 (4545 views) New research out has suggested that there has been a considerable increase in the amount of women buying cocktail rings for themselves.Findings from online jewellery specialist Diamonds UK show that women are increasingly purchasing right-hand rings for themselves as a treat and to ensure they get an item of jewellery that is reflective of the latest trends. A spokesman for the site told the Telegraph: "Smart, successful women are discovering that they don't have to wait for the man in their life to buy them a diamond ring." New trends with the rings are colour and glamour and suitability for any time of day, with jewellers claiming left hand rings are for love, whilst the right hand is for fun. A number of celebrities have been seen purchasing items for themselves and sporting the popular rings. For instance Scarlett Johansson bought herself a diamond right hand ring from De Beers to celebrate her Bafta success. In addition, Cameron Diaz has also been seen wearing the 'Tronchetto' by Bulgari, which comes in a host of colours. Many jewellers are now following suit, with Tiffany & Co, Catherine Prevost, Chanel and Dior all releasing right hand rings in a range of metals including 22 carat gold. Similar, lower priced designs are available from Amanda Wakeley, Stella McCartney, Pebble and Boodles.
