Wednesday, 22nd December 2004 (6159 views) The chairman of the Atlas Jewellery Group has been awarded for his work in the jewellery industry.<br/><br/>M Ramachandran was awarded 'Businessman of the Year' in Kerala, at a special ceremony attended by key members of the social, political and film sectors, according to the Times of Oman.<br/><br/>Mr Ramachandran said: "I feel really honoured to be a recipient of this prestigious award. I always strive to provide the best of services to my customers spread across the globe. I am happy to note that the organisers have recognised my contributions to the business community."<br/><br/>One major part of the businessman's work has been to bring transparency to the gold business and he was the man who started to advertise gold rates in the media.<br/><br/>In addition, Mr Ramachandran was the founder member of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group and took on the role of secretary for the group for six years.<br/><br/>Atlas Jewellery has seen huge growth and is the first to have showrooms in the global village of the Dubai Shopping Festival, providing gold rates on a 24-hour basis and the first to offer big promotions in gold retailing.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7386758"/>
