The Export Development Board (EDB) in Sri Lanka has announced it is launching a promotional scheme for jewellery and gems in France and Italy.

According to Lankapuvath Daily News, the campaign is in response to an increasing demand for Sri Lanka's exports in the two European countries.

Demand has also been up for Sri Lankan jewellery at the prestigious Basel fair.

Programmes are now underway to promote business to jewellery manufacturers in both the areas.

The EDB is now looking for new markets in order to diversify its market base and to help make Sri Lanka's presence stronger in the European market.
