Indian jeweller creates innovative new lineFriday, 24th December 2004 (4580 views) Award winning jewellery designer, Anjali Agarwal, has launched a new collection of gold jewellery using an ancient Indian art.The designer, who was presented with the prestigious Swaranjali award from the World Gold Council (WGC), aims to create extraordinary pieces of art and claims her new collection has managed to "romance glass with gold". Items in the new line use an ancient technique of Thewakriti, which is a process designing glass on gold and each piece tries to tell a different story. Ms Agarwal told the Telegraph India: "Only 15 families in the world in the villages of Rajasthan still know the 400-year-old art of Thewa. My endeavour has been to allow this art to resurface, as well as contemporise it." A number of other collections have been created by the jewellery maker, including the 'Sun' collections using the sun, moon and earth and the 'Oriental' collection combining traditional and modern items based on ancient Chinese masks. Prices for the jewellery ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1.8 lakh.
