Online jewellery retailer Blue Nile has been recommending gold jewellery as an ideal gift to melt someone's heart this Valentine's Day.<br/><br/>The site held a seasonal survey on gifts and experiences from the day and found that 19 per cent of people reported a bad gift as their worst experience of the event.<br/><br/>In order to impress rather than disappoint this February 14th, the company claims jewellery including earrings or bracelets are an ideal solution.<br/><br/>Blue Nile diamond and engagement expert, John Baird, commented: "Gift giving is central to our idea of a romantic Valentine's Day. <br/><br/>"Feedback from survey participants suggests that the key to a successful Valentine's Day is understanding the expectations of your significant other."<br/><br/>Items recommended by the retailer include a one of a kind 4.5 carat pink heart shaped diamond ring, a 14 carat white gold pink freshwater cultured pearl bracelet or an 18 carat white gold oval pink sapphire and diamond pendant.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7643566"/>
