Wednesday, 26th January 2005 (4917 views) A new machine has been created using gold deposits to help muscle growth and stimulation.<br/><br/>The machine, made in the US, walks using muscles it has made for itself and could in the future help paralysed patients breathe without a ventilator or help to clear plaque from inside the walls of a human coronary artery.<br/><br/>In addition, with funding from NASA, the team also claim the machine could help repair damage on remote aircraft.<br/><br/>The innovative machine was built using photolithography to etch the silicon structure and then the frame was coated with various materials, including gold.<br/><br/>According to New Scientist, the gold then works by providing points for which the growing muscle cells can attach to.<br/><br/>Before using the precious metal to help muscle growth, the team had to manually attach developed muscle tissue to a micromachine, something that can cause damage to the tissue.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7649023"/>
