US jewellers are trying to find ways to attract the Hispanic market, since latest figures show its annual spending could reach over $1 trillion by 2008.

The Jewellery Opinion Council (JCOC) is now planning to hold an online seminar to help inform jewellers about the topic

MVI marketing president, Elizabeth Chatelain, told National Jeweler: "Almost every geographic area of the country has a Hispanic market, and all retailers should be benefiting from it. It is an untapped market of tremendous potential, and most retailers happen into it by accident."

'The Hispanic Jewelry Market in the U.S.A.: The Hidden Giant' is due to take place on February 26 and will include the Hispanic community's jewellery buying expectations and habits.

According to the JCOC, it hopes the seminar will "help the jewellery industry take its piece of the pie".

Typical pieces that are expected to be popular with Hispanic consumers are right hand rings and three-stone jewellery.
