A gold necklace from the Iron Age has been discovered by a metal detector enthusiast.<br/><br/>The ancient, solid gold torc is thought to be worth around £100,000 and was found in a ploughed field on a farm near to Maurice Richardson's home in Newark.<br/><br/>With a twisted design, the necklace weighs 1.5 pounds and is now in the British Museum for valuation and examination.<br/><br/>Mr Richardson has been metal detecting for over 30 years but has never discovered anything worth more than £100.<br/><br/>Originally he thought the item was scrap metal, until he dug down further and saw a glint of gold.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7829701"/>
