Members of the gold industry from across the world have gathered in Dubai to begin the third City of Gold conference.<br/><br/>Delegates from countries including the UK, South Africa, Italy and India will discuss a range of issues facing the jewellery industry, with the event being backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.<br/><br/>The conference opens with an address from HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE minister of economy and planning.<br/><br/>Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) will host the event, with chairman Tawhid Abdullah highlighting it as a major opportunity for the industry to look to the future.<br/><br/>"Dubai is rapidly becoming a very important regional and international hub in the trade of gold and precious metals," he told Strategiy.<br/><br/>The DGJG is hoping to use the event as a springboard for establishing a committee to promote global jewellery marketing.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7852484"/>
