Tuesday, 22nd February 2005 (6010 views) Instead of diamond solitaires and gold bands, couples are now looking towards custom made gold rings as a unique expression of their love.<br/><br/>While the Jewelry Information Council in New York doesn't track how many custom wedding rings are made, their spokeswoman has said that reports from jewellers show that they are increasing in popularity.<br/><br/>"It's definitely a growing market," said Tiffany Metti.<br/><br/>The increase in demand is expected to become a staying trend in the wedding jewellery market. Reports from both small designers and high-end jewellers have shown an overwhelming demand for requests to make intricate and unique designs.<br/><br/>Recently, the internet has also seen an increase in online jewellery services, offering customising services for all types of jewellery. Even chain stores are now offering custom options, many allowing buyers to pick out loose stone with a choice of different settings.<br/><br/>One salewoman told the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune, that the days of a man picking out a ring for his wife-to-be are long gone. Now the couples make the decision.<br/><br/>"The ring is about me," said saleswoman Linda Mantalas.
