Tuesday, 22nd February 2005 (6317 views) Jewellers from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter have been picked to appear at the stylish Milan Fashion week.<br/><br/>The group of jewellery designers includes ten people and will see items featuring alongside top designs by figures including Zandra Rhodes and Julien McDonald.<br/><br/>Ms Rhodes work will be seen in an exhibition alongside the jewellers in Milan's Triennale gallery and claimed the move showed the UK fashion scene did not have to come just from London.<br/><br/>"It is great that talent from all over the UK, not just London, can get exposed at high profile events in the Italian fashion capital - it hasn't always been that way," she told the Birmingham Post.<br/><br/>"These designers have done a fantastic job creating beautiful handmade pieces, now they must fight to become established."<br/><br/>Model Elle McPherson was reportedly so impressed with one designer, Anna Lewis, who features in the expo, that her assistant called asking for a large neck wrap and two other smaller necklaces.<br/><br/>Andy Mills, operations director of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter Regeneration Partnership, said: "As far as jewellery goes, cities out-side London have shown their cutting edge.
