Monday, 28th February 2005 (9057 views) A new retail and entertainment centre is to open in Bandar Hilir in Malacca, Malaysia.<br/><br/>The Dataran Pahlawan Melaka will be officially launched this Saturday in the historical area, covering an area of 19 acres.<br/><br/>It is hoped the site will work as a meeting point for both locals and foreign tourists, offering local cuisines, dancing and handicrafts, according to the Star online.<br/><br/>A Gold Trade Centre is also being planned and will be located at one end of the site, whilst food and drink areas will be at the other end.<br/><br/>The gold area would contain a number of jewellery shops as well as other entertainment facilities.<br/><br/>Lianbang Ventures marketing director Derek Lew, explained: "At present the shopping and entertainment places are spread all over the place and foreign tourists do not know where to go.<br/> <br/>"We are very excited as this land has been there for a very long time.
