Wednesday, 16th March 2005 (4263 views) Barrick Gold has announced production has begun at its new Tulawaka mine in Tanzania.<br/><br/>The Canadian miner claims mines are set to produce around 70,000-75,000 ounces of gold.<br/><br/>It is hoped the mine is the first of four, to help increase output by 40 per cent by 2007.<br/><br/>Other sites include Lagunas Norte in Peru, Veladero in Argentina, and Cowal in Australia, with production set to begin in coming months.<br/><br/>Barrick has a 70 per cent share in the project, with the remainder owned by Northern Mining Explorations.<br/><br/>Barrick produced nearly five million ounces of gold in 2004.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8042362"/>
