Jewellery festival expands for 2005

More than 500 major jewellers are to take part in a new festival next month.<br/><br/>The Karnataka Gold Festival 2005 has been organised by The Art of Jewellery magazine and the World Gold Council (WGC).<br/><br/>Running from April 4th until May 25th, the event will run alongside the festivals of Ugadi and Akshaya Tritiya and the wedding season, according to the Deccan Herald.<br/><br/>The festival follows from the great success of the Bangalore Gold Festival last year.<br/><br/>WGC vice-president, K Shivram, said: "The response from jewellers all over Karnataka has been overwhelming and we sincerely believe that the jewellery trade in the State will immensely benefit by this combined initiative.'<br/><br/>A key part of the event will be the five kilogram gold prize for consumers, which will be spread across 246 winners and one kilo gold bumper prize.<br/><br/>Singer and actress Vasundhara Das has agreed to be the brand ambassador for the festival.<br/><br/>The organisers claim the event will be "one of the biggest jewellery shopping festivals in India.'<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8146045"/>
