Wednesday, 30th March 2005 (4047 views) The Nimrud gold is to go on display in a secret location in Europe, according to The Times Online.<br/><br/>The gold items, once belonging to Assyrian queens and princes have never been seen out of Iraq and even then it is a rare occurrence.<br/><br/>The fine and ancient jewellery will be loaned to Britain for a new exhibition but so far the exhibition opening venue has been kept secret.<br/><br/>Dating from the 8th century BC, the treasure was found in the north-west Palace of Nimrud in the late 1980s.<br/><br/>It is hoped the worldwide tour will raise over $10 million for the National Museum in Baghdad, the biggest victim of Iraq looters.<br/><br/>The exhibition is set to open on October 23rd and will tour for five years to eleven other cities in Europe, North America and the Far East.<br/><br/>Around 300 items will be displayed in The Gold of Nimrud: Treasures of Ancient Iraq expo and loan discussions have been held with the British Museum and Royal Academy.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8152579"/>
