Wednesday, 30th March 2005 (4271 views) A gold pendant dating back to the 19th century has been unearthed in Barbados.<br/><br/>The heart shaped pendant made from the precious metal and covered in jewels was discovered in the spot where the Jubilee Gardens stood, according to Nation Newspaper.<br/><br/>A historical archaeology class discovered the piece and a ceramic item this week and once the city site is developed into a civic square it is hoped further historical facts will be discovered.<br/><br/>Tutor Dr Karl Watson, said: "It's a piece of personal decoration. You can see the gold on one side with little rubies on the other. It probably was a woman's locket and she probably lost it.<br/><br/>"Things like this are a rare find."<br/><br/>The digging is being conducted now since when the site is converted for the public the "opportunity might not produce itself again".<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8153291"/>
