Tuesday, 14th June 2005 (8283 views) A new survey by the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) has shown that gold is a popular metal of choice for this year's Father's Day.<br/><br/>According to the study, fine jewellery and watches are becoming the key gifts for both Father's Day and graduation ceremonies.<br/><br/>This year ten per cent of people plan to buy fine jewellery for their Father's Day gift, with 38 per cent opting for yellow gold.<br/><br/>In addition, white gold also proves popular with over 13 per cent planning to purchase jewellery made from the metal in 2005, compared to nearly 11 per cent last year.<br/><br/>Spending is also up with over half of participants looking to spend up to $300 on a fine jewellery gift, preferring to shop in a national jewellery chain store or a local independent jeweller.<br/><br/>It appears families are making a good choice with jewellery, since 13 per cent of fathers questioned wanted fine jewellery as their ideal gift, but they mainly prefer yellow gold pieces.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8744422"/>
