Gold deposits found in Mexican soil

Thursday, 14th July 2005 (2896 views)

Northwestern Mineral Ventures has discovered gold deposits in soil at Picachos, Mexico.

The results of the soil geochemical surveys from three zones were conducted as part of the ongoing 2005 exploration program.

They show the presence of three separate areas of mineralized bedrock, each with several distinct epithermal precious metal veins.

The zones contain a concentration of very high metal values found in the soil samples, comparable to those typical in operating gold mines in the region.

The highest gold values were returned from the El Toro samples, which demonstrate a strong polymetallic geochemical anomaly.

Several of these samples contained in excess of 500 ppb gold, and values of 2,424 ppb gold occurred in soils near the previous mine workings.

Northwestern will now begin a programme to efficiently pinpoint the most prospective zones for drilling and underground or surface development.
