Confirmation of Kirkland Lake gold sought

Friday, 15th July 2005 (2804 views)

Mining company Brigadier Gold Limited has started work to confirm gold reserves at a previously-mined area in north east Ontario.

Its M Island gold project, located in the Kirkland Lake-Larder Lake area, is focusing on the southwest arm of Larder Lake where three trenches containing significant reserves were explored more than 70 years ago.

The area was first mined by Knutson Mining Corp back in the late 1930s and Brigadier Gold is now using the old maps to re-examine the site.

It is currently cleaning out the old trenches in order to resample and confirm the historical gold assays.

The maps show trenches and drill hole cross-sections with gold values in dollars per ounce written over one-inch intervals.

Using the maps, and bearing in mind that in the 1930s gold was priced at $35 per ounce, Brigadier Gold believes the site still holds significant gold profit.

According to Knutson Mining Corp's records, trench 'C' of the three trench complex held a weighted average of 0.090 ounces gold per tonne over an interval of approximately 72.0 feet.

Additional to that there were individual assay intervals of 0.25 ounces gold per tonne over 4.5 feet and 0.31 ounces gold per tonne over 4.5 feet.track
