Wednesday, 24th August 2005 (4388 views) The Central El Salvador area could prove lucrative for Intrepid Minerals Corporation which has announced encouraging gold values on its Ojo Blanco licence.<br/><br/>Out of its 228 initial rock samples, 13 per cent returned over 1 g/t gold with a high of 21.5 g/t.<br/><br/>The highest gold values were discovered in colloform-banded chalcedony-calcite veins and there is a five-kilometre area where calcite has previously been mined but not the associated gold.<br/><br/>Intrepid's president and chief executive officer, Laurence Curtis, expressed optimism at the exploration.<br/><br/>"The dimension of this system is impressive and the textures and geochemistry suggest we have a prime candidate for drilling," he said.<br/><br/>Significant gold values of up to 100 g/t have previously been discovered at the Potonico zone, near to this latest exploration.<br/>
