Nugget hunting has always been practised in gold-bearing areas such as Alaska and now tourists are getting in on the act too, taking home their own gold from areas such as Anchorage, Alaska.<br/><br/>The most recent report of a gold find comes from Dean Griswold of Kirkland, Washington who found a massive 6.5-ounce nugget.<br/><br/>Mr Griswold came across his booty in Alaska whilst using a metal detector on a wilderness nugget-hunting tour.<br/><br/>Another mammoth nugget recently discovered at nearby Ganes Creek weighed in at 42-ounces.<br/><br/>Advances in technology have made metal detectors more powerful and resulted in a flurry of finds as gold can be detected in both shallow free-milling gold pockets and pay streaks.<br/><br/>Several nugget-hunting businesses are currently operating in the Anchorage area such as Clark-Wiltz Mining and Moore Creek Mining.<br/><br/>Gold enthusiasts can expect to find gold with metal detectors in many previously explored areas due to the increased accuracy of modern metal detectors.<br/><br/><br/>
