Dancing shoes spun with goldThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 23rd September 2005 (8730 views) Some of the shoes worn at Beijing's Burn the Floor show have been made with spun gold linked to Swarovski crystal. All 108 pairs of shoes that the dancers will get through in the three-day festival have been specially manufactured in England, reports China Daily. Their inner material is cushioning, while the sole of the shoe is manufactured from delicate suede leather that creates friction with the floor, enabling the dancer to execute complex footwork. The gold infused ballroom dancing shoes, that are expected to become collectables, were designed by well-regarded costume designer Bonita Bryg. The Burn the Floor event takes place in Beijing's Great Hall of the People and runs from October 14th to 16th.
