Tuesday, 25th October 2005 (3815 views) Two gold items unearthed in Wales have been officially declared treasure.Robert Hulse last year struck gold whilst planting potatoes in his Trevor garden, where he discovered a partially worked ingot resembling a ring. David Robinson, who was out metal detecting in Nercwys, Flintshire, also discovered a gold ring last year. His find was buried under four inches of soil. A Wrexham inquest declared both gold items treasure under the criteria that they were over 300-years-old and more than ten per cent pure gold. Mr Robinson's find has been verified by the National Museum in Cardiff as 94 to 96 per cent pure gold and is believed to date from the medieval period, reports the BBC. Mr Robinson's ring will now be going to London for valuation and Cardiff's National Museum has already expressed interest in buying the artefact.
