Friday, 28th October 2005 (5790 views) The 36th Gem, Mineral, Fossil and Jewellery Show is kicking off this weekend in Johnstown, Pennsylvania with the aim of finding talented designers in the area.Organisers of the show, which include the Appalachian Gem and Mineral Club, are also trying to attract a younger audience and teach them about geology. On display will be anything relating to rocks, fossils, gemstones, or jewellery, all of which will be put forward from local independent jewellery makers and Mineral Club members. There will also be a demonstration of how to pan for gold, and visitors can bring a personal stone or gem and have it turned into a piece of jewellery by a designer. The event will take place this Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
