Tennis star Sania Mirza is to make her first promotional trip to Kerala for Malabar Gold, reports IANS.

The Kerala-based jewellery company secured the services of Ms Mirza earlier this year in addition to superstar Mohanlal who already fronts the brand.

She is currently ranked number 31 in the world tennis ratings and made history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach the third round in this year's Australian Open.

Ms Mirza will attend the launch of the company's new branded diamond jewellery on November 20th, which will coincide with its announcement of expansion plans for north India.

Malabar Gold continued its southern expansion when, in April of this year, it opened its first store outside of Kerala in Bangalore.

In addition to traditional gold, platinum and diamond jewellery, the company sells international brands.
