Tuesday, 22nd November 2005 (5677 views) Louis Vuitton has opened a store in China to bring luxury goods to the country's burgeoning market.The store will sell its array of high-end merchandise ranging from women's purses retailing for 3,000 yuan up to a 1.6 million yuan made-to-order gold watch. It spreads over three floors and sports an inner metal mesh screen based on antique Chinese currency. "The Chinese clientele is more and more attracted by our products. We are particularly proud to reinforce our presence in Beijing where Louis Vuitton began its Chinese history," commented chairman Bernard Arnault at the opening of the Louis Vuitton Mansion. In attendance at the opening of the new store in China's World Trade Centre were film director Zhang Yimou, Olympic superstar Liu Xiang and actress Zhao Wei. China's luxury goods market is currently expanding, leading Ernst & Young to predict it will account for 29 per cent of the global market by 2015.
