An exhibition on the Etruscans is the first major exhibit to take place at Tokyo's Italian Cultural Institute.

According to the Japan Times, one notable Etruscan object is the Golden Diadem.

Made in the 4th century BC, it was created from individual gold leaves attached to a gold sheet.

As they expanded and gained prosperity, the Etruscans were influenced by the Greeks. However, they maintained their own distinctive style, which is often described as more free and more naïve than that of the Greeks.

The exhibition has 235 items including sculptures, jewellery and armour, like an 8th century hemispheric helmet.

Il Mondo Degli Etruschi, or The World of the Etruscans, is on at Tokyo's Italian Cultural Institute until December 18th.
