The next generation of the Faberge family have been speaking to the St Petersburg Times about Faberge's intricately crafted eggs and their new shop in Moscow.

Two years ago, Faberge descendants Theo and Sarah set up a shop in St Petersburg. Last month they opened a shop in Moscow and the father-and-daughter team have been making quite a splash.

"We want to make pieces of beauty which are worthy of the name and of the same quality," Sarah told the St Petersburg Times.

Founded in 1842 by Gustav Faberge, the company produced eggs for several Tsars, starting with Tsar Alexander III.

He commissioned an enamelled egg, which opened to reveal a gold hen with a diamond crown and a ruby egg.

After the Bolshevik revolution, the eggs were dispersed and collected by many eminent collectors.

The family now sell Faberge eggs, watches and jewellery as the St Petersburg Collection, which can be purchased in London, St Petersburg and Moscow.
